Gesshoji Temple (月照寺). It is a temple of Jodo-shu. The Lord of Matsue, MATSUDAIRA Naomasa re-founded this temple in 1664. There are many tombs of the lords. There are plenty of butterfly species, e.g. Chinese Windmill (ジャコウアゲハAtrophaneura alcinous), Spangle (クロアゲハPapilio protenor), Common Bluebottle (アオスジアゲハGraphium sarpedon) etc.

 

The monument of Raiden, the mightiest Sumo wrestler in Japanese history.

 

The tomb of MATSUDAIRA Naomasa. He was a grandson of TOKUGAWA Ieyasu and a son of YUKI Hideyasu.

 

The tomb of MATSUDAIRA Harusato (Fumaiko不昧公). He is the founder of Fumairyu tea ceremony. We drank Botebote-cha, which is snack-type whipped tea and was an invention of him.

 

Jyuzohi Monument (寿蔵碑), which is a stone turtle for praying longevity. It appeared in “Bake Bake”. There is a rumor that this stone turtle moved and harmed people every night. Therefore Fumaiko calmed down this stone by carving Enmei Jizo.

A Mask of Kotoshironushi no Mikoto (事代主命). He is a son of Ohkuninushi, a native Japanese king. He served Takemikazuchi from Takamagahara. He dislikes roosters and eggs because he was harmed by a shark due to a rooster. There is a link to Mishima Taisha Shrine in Izu, which also worships this god.

 

Mihojinja Shrine. It worships Ebisu, which is regarded as Kotoshironushi. This is a very old shrine founded before 8C. It is an important cultural property of Japan. There are two different theories what Ebisu represents for. One is Kotoshironushi, and the other is Hiruko, who is a disformed son of Izanami and Izanagi, and was abandoned by them.

 

Aoishidatami Street (青石畳通り). It becomes blue when the rain falls down.

 

Mihonoseki Todai Lighthouse (美保関灯台). It is an important cultural property of Japan. 

 

Mt. Daisen (大山).
