On September the 13th 2022, I climbed Mt. Buttokusan（仏徳山）and Mt. Asahiyama（朝日山）. The geological nature of these mountains are Permian red chert. The soil is brown forest soil, but is shallow.
At the entrance of the trail, there is a description of a Japanese song in Manyoshu Vol. 13 No. 3236, “I am going over Mt. Narayama in Yamato Country, passing over Uji River flowing through Tsutsuki-no-Hara plain in Kyoto, walking through the path of Agone-no-Hara plain in Tagitsuya. I will have never missed the path in a thousand years, even in ten thousand years. I donate offerings to the imperial ancestors at Iwata-no-Mori Shrine at Fushimi in Kyoto and am going over Mt. Osakayama.”（そらみつ 倭の國 あおによし 奈良山越えて 山代の 管木の原 ちはやぶる 宇治の渡 瀧つ屋の 阿後尼の原を 千歳に 闕くる事無く 萬歳に あり通はむと 山科の 石田の社の すめ神に 幣帛取り向けて われは越え行く 相坂山を）. The writer of this song is unknown. A good song for trekking.
In Agemaki（総角）of Genji-Monogatari（源氏物語），there is a short song “To an agemaki hair style, I would like to tie up an everlasting promise and would also like to meet and to be together.” （総角に 長き契りを 結びこめ おなじ所に よりもあはなむ）. Genji-Monogatari is a series of love stories written by Murasaki-Shikibu. For the last ten episodes, the stage was in Uji.

There is a description of a Japanese song in Manyoshu Vol. 9 No. 1795 “The pine tree growing up on Imaki-no-Mine ridge, which is said to be waiting for the wife, must have been watching the prince (Uji-no-Wakiiratsuko) in ancient days.”（妹らがり 今木の嶺に 茂り立つ 嬬松の木は 古人見けむ）. This song was written by Kakinomoto-no-Hitomaro. The princes of Ohjin emperor, future Nintoku emperor and Uji-no-Wakiiratsuko were said to compromise the imperial throne, which resulted in the suicide of Uji-no-Wakiiratsuko.

In Sawarabi（早蕨）of Genji-Monogatari（源氏物語），there is a short song “Even my big sister had passed away. I wonder who I should show this spring gift, which is sawarabi plant on the peak picked up as a keepsake of my deceased father” （この春は たれにか見せむ 亡き人の かたみにつめる 峰の早蕨）. 「かたみ」 has double meanings.
