On January the 1st 2024, we watched a musical movie “Wonka”. It is a story for oppressed people, who have pure hearts and dreams in their mind. Sally Hawkins is a very actress who appears in such a kind of movie. There are a lot of more stars, such as Timothée Chalamet, Rowan Atkinson, Hugh Grant and so on. The story embraces people in difficult positions until the last end, with fantastic usages of arts and English accents. It is set as a prequel of a novel by Roald Dahl, “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory”, and follows original themes of the novel. There are several differences from Tim Burton’s movie “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory”, but there may be another story between “Wonka” and Tim Burton’s story, regarding a cynical appearance of Wonka in the latter movie and purer character of Wonka in the former one. During the watching, a M7.6 earthquake happened in Noto region of Japan and our theater was also shaken, because it is in a high place of a building. The very scene when the earthquake happened was the time when “three stupid rich men” were acting against Wonka. Some people thought this might be a part of amusement, but it turned out to be a real disaster. The damages of the earthquake are still not precisely evaluated at the moment.
