Le Mariage forcé

I watched “Le Mariage forcé” from “COLLECTION MOLIÈRE par LA COMÉDIE-FRANÇAISE DVD-BOX {Rouge}”. It is a story of an old man who is forced to get married with a young lady who wants to obtain freedom in her life. There is a sharp contrast between this powerful lady and the old guy symbolized by a child’s solo. “COLLECTION MOLIÈRE par LA COMÉDIE-FRANÇAISE DVD-BOX” started by “L’Avare” starring Gérard Giroudon as Harpagon and ended by this story starring Gérard Giroudon as Sganarelle, the name of drollery in Molière’s dramas throughout.

Now I have completed “COLLECTION MOLIÈRE par LA COMÉDIE-FRANÇAISE DVD-BOX”. The best play among them for me is “Le Misanthrope”. It vividly explains how an affair of love coexists with reason and they sometimes contradict inside a single person in incomprehensible ways. The virtue of a human being is also trapped in the incomprehensibleness. I also favor “Dom Juan” though it is a remaking of various legends. “Amphitryon”, whose productions are inspired by Japanese classical theatrics, is also interesting especially for people who are familiar with Nogaku or Kabuki. You may notice which performance (e.g., sitting locations of characters with no line) is inspired by what aspects. “Le Malade imaginaire” is notable for the legendry death of Molière. The 19 stories included in the DVD-BOX were quite a lot of fun.
