On October the 30th 2016, I climbed Mt. Mizuiyama(水井山). It is on the north line of Mt. Hieizan(比叡山), accompanied with Mt. Daibisan(大尾山) and Mt. Yokotakayama(横高山).
At the foot of mountains there is Sanzenin(三千院), originated by the famous Buddhist and the founder of Enryakuji(延暦寺), Saicho(最澄). On the downside of roof, the coming of Amida Buddha with twenty-five Bodhisattva to welcome the spirits of the dead is drawn.
This is a place where a samurai Naozane Kumagai(熊谷直実), intended to beat the opponent of his master Honen(法然), the founder of Jodoshu School(浄土宗), by a hatchet. He was persuaded not to do this and threw away the hatchet to this bush.
This is a tomb of the emperors Gotoba(後鳥羽天皇)and Juntoku(順徳天皇). Gotoba is known to have fought with Kamakura Shogunate in the medieval age. Juntoku was his son. Both of them were exiled after the fight Jokyu-no-ran(承久の乱).
This is Raigoin(来迎院), where Ennin(円仁) learned the chanting of Buddhist hymns(声明).
This water fall is named Otonashinotaki(the waterfall of no-sound, 音無の滝), where Ryonin(良忍)in Heian period learned the chanting of Buddhist hymns and erased the trace sound of the waterfall with his voice.
I started climbing the mountain. This is Buttery Collybia Collybia butryacea(エセオリミキ).
Tinder Fungus Fomes fomentarius(ツリガネタケ).
Yellow Fairy Cups Bisporella citrina(ビョウタケ).
Oligoporus caesius(アオゾメタケ).
I reached the top of Mt. Daibisan。
There was a view to the lake Biwako.
The mountain pass Ogitoge was a main pass that links Omi (Shiga) and Yamashiro (Kyoto).
This is the top of Mt. Mizuiyama. There was no view.
You can easily reach the next and last mountain top that day, Mt. Yokotakayama.
During the downhill, I found Schizophyllum commune(スエヒロタケ).
Bitter Oyster Panellus stypticus(ワサビタケ).
Hygrophorus lucorum(キヌメリガサ). I also met a family of wild boar Sus scrofa(イノシシ). I rang a bell of avoiding bear for avoiding them instead.
For plants identified; Japanese Cedar Cryptomeria japonica(スギ), Hinoki Cypress Chamaecyparis obtusa(ヒノキ), Japanese Chestnut Castanea crenata(クリ), Quercus serrata(コナラ), Camellia Camellia japonica(ヤブツバキ), Eurya japonica(ヒサカキ), Japanese Maple Acer palmatum(イロハモミジ), Muku Tree Aphananthe aspera(ムクノキ), Chinese Hackberry Celtis sinensis var. japonica(エノキ), Japanese Andromeda Pieris japonica(アセビ), White Enkianthus Enkianthus perulatus(ドウダンツツジ), Japanese Horse-Chestnut Aesculus turbinata(トチノキ), Juniper Haircap Polytrichum juniperinum(スギゴケ). For other mushrooms; Antrodiella gypsea(シックイタケ). For slime molds; Fuligo candida(シロススホコリ). For birds, Eurasian Jay Garrulus glandarius(カケス), Coal Tit Parus ater(ヒガラ), Varied Tit Parus varius(ヤマガラ), Great Tit Parus major(シジュウカラ).
